Set up your Wix Studio website.

A checklist for the accounts, domain and hosting behind your website. Use it alongside your project lab; you do not need to buy a new domain if you already own one.

  1. Keep the accounts in your name.

Use your own Wix Studio account and domain account. Invite us with the permissions needed for the project. Never email a password, recovery code or payment-card details.

  2. Check the costs before buying.

A paid Wix Studio site plan, plus domain renewal. Hosting is included in the site plan; business email is separate. These provider charges are not included in the one-time 48HRS design price. Check the provider’s current billing cycle, limits, taxes and renewal price before subscribing.

  3. Use your existing domain, or register one.

You do not need to move an existing domain to a new registrar. If you need a new one, check its renewal price as well as the first-year offer. Keep ownership and auto-renewal under your control.

  4. Connect the domain inside Wix Studio.

Add your domain in the site’s settings, then use the exact DNS records shown for your Wix Studio project. Follow the official connection guide below; copied values from another project can point your domain to the wrong site.

  5. Protect email and check the launch.

Before changing DNS, save the existing records. Keep email-related MX and TXT records unless your email provider specifically instructs otherwise. If changing nameservers, reproduce the existing zone first. Check the root domain, www, HTTPS, contact form and email after launch. DNS changes can take time to propagate.

Do not delete existing DNS records or move nameservers without checking what currently uses them. Your website and your email can share a domain while using different providers.
